Katy Parkinson

Founder Director

Katy is the inspiration behind and creator of Sound Training. Prior to developing the program she was a Senior Learning and Language Adviser in a large urban unitary authority. Katy has 27 years’ teaching experience, specializing in supporting pupils with dyslexia. She holds a Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in Special Education, a PGC in Dyslexia and is a former Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA).

Steve Ruder

US Implementation Adviser

Steve has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and is a former USA school principal with over 20 years experience. Steve was the first American principal to pilot Lexonik in Florida (in 2015) and has been passionately advocating since. He’s dedicated to raising achievement and assisting schools with all aspects of program implementation.

Lisa Parkinson

Training Manager

Involved in Sound Training from the start, Lisa is a qualified teacher, who brings huge passion and commitment to supporting the growth of the company in the UK and internationally. Lisa is a senior member of the team with overarching responsibility for ensuring the standardization of both training and programs essential for the company’s growth and development in the UK, US and beyond.

Michelle Hicks

Business Growth Manager

Michelle brings her 20 years’ teaching experience and understanding of the demands on schools and their staff to the team and is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the business. This includes ensuring customer service and support of the highest standard.
